New years we spend in Germany and traveled to Egypt due the lack of snow. There where great deals as we traveled when schools in Europe. Hurghada was the destination and we stayed at a very kids friendly resort. From there we took a 17 hour bus tour to see “The Valley of the Kings”, Luxar and we even got a short trip on the Nil. We felt very secure but you could see a lot of security (machine guns) to keep it save. After Egypt we spend one more week in Germany with Oma and Opa and then back to Canada.
In Canada we enjoyed the abundance of snow and we did a lot of skiing and x-country skiing. The weather conditions for our annual paragliding Easter meet where just great and we had every day flights with more then an hour.
We also had a great turn out at our house party to celebrate Erik's and Penny's birthday. I guess we had plus 50 people and a whole herd of kids. There where so many kids downstairs that you could not even see the floor.
Spring was not boring either, as this was the start for Penny’s new challenge to run the Canoe and Kayak Rental business (www.ColumbiaRiverOUtfitters.com) and Frank convinced Max to enter the x-alps challenge (www.redbullxalps.com) in July. So Max started to train and prepare for that race. It really was not a lot f time to get prepared for this kind of challenge as it is considered the hardest adventure race in the world. But we made things happen, played save and had fun. Thanks again to all the people and sponsors who supported me for this race. By the way, I decided to apply for the 2009 x-Alps with Penny as my supporter. We hope that Ron and Donna can join us for that trip as well.
Just amazing how Penny could pull all that off with starting up the new canoe and kayak rental business, the kids and Max being gone for the summer. Thank god we had Tanya staying with us for 8 weeks as a nanny. Thanks again for all your help Tanya.
Just when the summer came to an end we where up for the next adventure. Going for a 10 day canoe trip to the Bowron Lakes. We (us, Max's dad, Jeff, Vanya and Emmy-Lou) got awarded with the best weather you could ask for. Every day was just like out of the picture book. The nights where a bit cold, but we had mid 20's during the day. The last day was the only day we had rain just to see how this can be with rain.
This was not the end of our adventures. We still did some good hiking and flying in the fall and we had excellent weather to fly for the Panorama woman’s slalom and giant slalom world cup in November. Beginning December we headed to Mexico for to weeks. What a great time we had. The kids really liked the climate, warm water, the horse back and bus rides.
Xmas will be held at our place with Penny’s parents and we are looking forward for a couple of relaxing weeks to work out some exciting adventures for 2008.
2007 was also an exciting business year. Penny stopped working as the strata manger for Lakeside Meadows and got ready for her new business she purchased (www.ColumbiaRiverOUtfitters.com) She had a great year and got a lot of new ideas for the next season.
Max sold DiscoveryWeb (Internet hosting and web development) in February to Greg Bauer (Navigator Multimedia out of Kelowna). This was the best what could have happened. I was getting way to busy with www.BookingCalendar.com and the DiscoveryWeb clients would not have been serviced as we did the years before. All in all it was a win win situation for me, my clients and for Greg. BooklingCalendar is doing very well. There where a lot of challenges by releasing a brand new version, working on a new website and marketing strategies. We doubled the business within the last 6 month and the last 2 month where breaking records in sales. This is a result of having a great team supporting my idea and to make things happen. Thanks again to Shalene, Cicely and Ashith to get it to where we are now and to let me pursue my flying and family adventures.
Best of all, and I do not know how to express myself here, is to share all these adventures with my family. Penny, since we are together, you make my live so joyful and interesting. There is never a dull moment (sometimes rather to much going on). Penny is the best buddy I ever could imagine, supporting my business, flying adventures and lover. I am very happy and proud to be with her and thanks, and I cannot say it enough, to give me these wonderful healthy kids. You guys are the crown of my live.
